Shoo Fly Pie Recipe



The Brown sugar and molasses sweeten up this amazing Shoo Fly Pie Recipe. My favorite dessert which I like the most, I suggest you to bake it once and enjoy.



Ingredients

Graham cracker pie crust, baked 1 crust, single 9"
Baking soda 1 tsp
Drinking tap water 1 cup 8 fl oz
Egg 1 large
Molasses 1 cup
Wheat flour bleached 1 ½ cup
Brown sugar ½ cup packed
Shortening ½ cup


Preparation method
Beat an egg and set aside.

Preheat oven to 425F. Prepare a 9 inch pie crust.
In a small bowl, dissolve baking soda in warm water; add egg and molasses into it. Add flour, shortening and sugar in another bowl until crumbly. Add molasses mixture into 1/2 cup of crumb mixture; spoon well.
Spread all over the pie crust, sprinkle remaining crumbs gradually over top.
Bake for 15 minutes, reduce an oven to 325F, cover with foil and further bake for 30 minutes longer or until the center becomes hard.
